Miscellaneous Information:

Subetei is a 13th century mongol who works as a court scribe recording titles, lands, and tithes that are given and received by the Great Khan, Ogedei. Inspired by visitors from the west, he is learning the techniques and styles of the foreign states to better serve the conquest of Europe. He works with ground pigments, gouache, vellum, paper, gesso, and gold leaf. While he prefers to do illumination, he is also experienced with several calligraphy hands.
